Year 1 had an excellent day out today at Bring Yer Wellies. In the morning, children learnt about how important plants are to our lives and how we can look after them. Then, they got to work potting 2 plants - oregano and lavender which we were allowed to take home with us.
This afternoon, we took apart a wormery and had a look at what worms eat and what they produce. After this, we went down to the brook and raced some small, cork boats, cheering them on from the side. Finally, we had a go at den building. We made two dens big enough to squeeze ourselves in and then it was time to go back to school!

Big Question Launch - Squashed Tomato Challenge
Date: 23rd Feb 2023 @ 4:57pm
To invent or not to invent, that is the question.
The first part of launch day involved us all working together in teams to invent a way to enable tomatoes to travel down a slope over the distrance of a meter without being touched or thrown. The inventions the children came up with were amazing. Everyone learnt a lot and worked together by taking on different roles really well. Take a look at the results.

It has been a busy day!
The Big Question Launch - Pok-a-Tok
Date: 23rd Feb 2023 @ 4:45pm
To invent or not to invent, that is the question.
As part of our launch day we tried to play Pok-a-Tok. This was one of the first ball games ever to be invented. It was invented by the Maya and it had unexpected rules.. The ball could not be touched by hands, feet or head! Instead we had to use hips, knees and elbows. It was fun but impossible. Thank goodness inventions are adapted and improved over time!
