A Warm Welcome

Welcome to our Pre-School Class.
We’re so excited to have you join us on this wonderful journey of learning, laughter, and discovery.

Our Pre-School is a happy, friendly and welcoming place where we pride ourselves on developing close relationships with our children and their families. In Pre-school, we aim to develop the whole child and offer children a wide range of learning experiences whilst also tailoring learning to their individual needs, interests and in the moment engagement. Our team have a great awareness of child development and have the ability to implement any area of learning to children’s in the moment play, which will follow any individual next steps to scaffold play and extend learning.

We believe that children learn at their best when they feel safe, secure, confident and happy. We wish to provide fun, exciting learning experiences whilst also offering a calm, caring and nurturing environment for children to develop a sense of community and build a secure foundation. Our pre-school children have access to the indoors and outdoors and exposure to our wider curriculum, meaning they’re very much a part of our school community.

In our Pre-School classroom, every day is filled with curiosity, creativity, and fun. Whether we’re exploring the world around us, making new friends, or learning through play, we believe every child is unique and special.

Here, you'll find updates about what we’re learning, important dates, and helpful resources to support your child at home. We can’t wait to share all the magical moments of early learning with you!

It’s the perfect foundation for pre-school years, and attendance can support admission into our Reception class intake.

Learning Journeys

Every child has their own ‘Learning Journey’ which is a unique document. The adults working with your child will collect a range of evidence in order to show the progress your child is making as well as to clearly illustrate the characteristics of learning that your child show independently. At Penwortham we use an on-line learning journal on Class Dojo. You can view your child’s learning at any time through the app and you can also add learning from home too! Your child will also have a paper journal to put other work into that has been on their ‘proud tile’ we use these documents to assess your child against half termly checkpoints and to carefully plan their next steps for the following half term.

We are extremely proud of our learning environment and carefully plan our enhanced provision to support interests and needs in the class. The children have access to the outdoor area daily so please make sure your child has a coat.
