Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

At Penwortham Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child — whatever their needs, strengths or starting points — is supported to achieve their very best. We are proud to be an inclusive school where all children are valued as individuals and where diversity is celebrated.

Some children may need additional support at different points in their school journey. Our aim is always to identify needs early, work in partnership with families, and provide high‑quality, personalised support so that every child can thrive.

Key SEND Documents

These documents explain how we identify, assess and support children with SEND:

  • SEND Policy

  • SEND Information Report

  • Local Offer

  • Accessibility Plan

These are updated annually and reflect the requirements of the SEND Code of Practice (2015).

How We Support Children with SEND

We follow the Graduated Approach (Assess – Plan – Do – Review), ensuring that support is tailored, regularly reviewed and adjusted as needed. This includes:

  • High‑quality teaching in every classroom

  • Targeted small‑group or 1:1 interventions

  • Personalised support plans

  • Collaboration with external specialists where appropriate

  • Close partnership with parents and carers

Our aim is always to remove barriers to learning and help every child develop confidence, independence and a love of learning.
