Welcome to Year 4
Welcome to Year 4! We are delighted to be working with you and your child during this important stage of their learning journey.
Year 4 is a year where pupils grow in confidence, independence and responsibility. Our classroom is a warm, supportive and engaging environment where curiosity is encouraged, creativity is valued and pupils are supported to develop a positive attitude to learning.
This page will be regularly updated with information about our learning, key events and ways you can support your child at home.
Learning in Year 4
Pupils in Year 4 follow a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that builds on prior learning from Key Stage 1 and prepares them for the increasing expectations of Key Stage 2. Alongside English and mathematics, pupils study a wide range of subjects including science, history, geography, art, computing, music, physical education and PSHE.
Learning is designed to develop pupils’ knowledge, confidence, resilience and independence, supporting them to become reflective and motivated learners.
In mathematics, pupils continue to develop strong number sense and multiplication fluency through regular practice, helping them to recall facts confidently and apply them in problem-solving.
Reading is highly valued in Year 4. Pupils are encouraged to read widely and regularly to build vocabulary, improve comprehension and develop a lifelong enjoyment of reading.
