Breaktime Snacks
We encourage all pupils to bring a healthy snack to enjoy at morning break, in line with guidance from the Department for Education and Department of Health.
Suitable snacks include fruit, vegetables, or other healthy options. Further guidance can be found in the Healthy Breaks for Schools leaflet.
For the safety of all pupils, Penwortham Primary School is a nut-free school. Please ensure that snacks do not contain nuts or nut products.
Free School Meals and Pupil Premium
All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are currently entitled to free school meals under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme.
Families who receive certain benefits may also be eligible for Pupil Premium funding, which provides additional financial support to schools. This funding is used to enhance provision, including additional staffing and targeted interventions, to help reduce attainment gaps and support pupils’ learning and development.
Information about eligibility is treated confidentially.
If your child is eligible for free school meals, they will continue to receive them from Year 3 through to the end of primary school. There is no need to reapply each year.
Applications can be made via the Lancashire County Council website, or alternatively, families may complete the attached form and return it to school for processing.
