Welcome to Penwortham Primary School – a place where happy children achieve.
It is a real pleasure to welcome you to our school community. I invite you to explore our website and discover the many opportunities that make Penwortham Primary School a vibrant, caring, and inspiring place for children to learn, grow, and thrive.
Penwortham Primary School is a true community school and very much a family, proudly located at the heart of Penwortham. I am incredibly proud to work alongside our wonderful children, dedicated staff, supportive governors, our engaged and supportive families, and our thriving and highly valued PTFA, whose commitment enriches school life and strengthens the sense of togetherness that defines our school. We place great value on working closely with families and community partners, knowing that strong relationships between home and school enable children to flourish, feel proud of who they are, and achieve their very best.
At Penwortham, our core values: Aspire, Belong, Care, and Discover are at the heart of everything we do. These values shape school life and ensure children feel a strong sense of belonging, are cared for as individuals, and are inspired to aim high, work together, and take pride in their achievements. We encourage children to respect one another, demonstrate kindness and inclusivity, and engage positively with both our local and wider community, contributing real value to the world around them.
The wellbeing and happiness of our children sit at the very centre of our school. We believe that children learn best when they feel emotionally safe, supported, and understood. Our staff take time to get to know every child as an individual and provide calm, consistent support when it is needed. We prioritise positive mental health and emotional wellbeing through a nurturing, compassionate approach, supported by our wellbeing suite, access to a learning mentor, and a strong culture of care across the school. This ensures children feel listened to, valued, and confident, helping them to build resilience, self-belief, and a positive mindset where challenges are embraced with the attitude, “I can’t do it… yet.”
We are ambitious for every child and offer a bespoke, exciting curriculum that inspires curiosity and a genuine love of learning. We have a dedicated and enthusiastic staff team who work closely together to ensure that all children make excellent progress, regardless of their starting points. Through high-quality teaching and purposeful learning experiences, children deepen their knowledge, develop independence, and grow in confidence and resilience. We foster a positive “can-do” culture where talents are recognised, nurtured, and celebrated, both academically and personally.
Our curriculum is dynamic, well-planned, and forward-thinking, supporting children to become confident, responsible 21st-century learners. Alongside academic learning, we place great importance on character development, cultural awareness, responsibility, and sustainability. This ensures children learn to care for their community, our planet, and future generations, growing into thoughtful global citizens and critical thinkers with a strong moral compass.
Our commitment to excellence has been recognised through a range of awards, including the Platinum School Games Mark, the Primary Science Quality Mark as a National Leader of Science School, and the Eco Green Flag Award, reflecting our dedication to achievement, wellbeing, and environmental responsibility.
Children enjoy learning both indoors and outdoors, supported by our Forest School provision, extensive grounds, inspiring, well-designed learning environments, and a welcoming, well-resourced library. We also offer wraparound care from 7:30am to 6:00pm, as well as a pre-school, providing continuity and flexibility for families.
Choosing the right school for your child is an important decision. The best way to experience the warmth, ambition, and strong sense of belonging that define Penwortham Primary School is to visit us in person. We warmly welcome prospective families to attend one of our Open Days or arrange a visit to see what makes our school such a special place.
I look forward to welcoming you and your family to our happy, nurturing, and ambitious school community.
