National Poetry Week

National Poetry Week starts on Monday 4th October 2021. To start the week we have a visiting poet in our school. Ash Dickinson performed poetry for the whole school and then worked with all pupils to create their own poetry. Check back here for photos and poetry from our celebration of all things poetical!

Here is a poem that Year 1 class wrote together with Ash when he visited. They are going to learn this poem by heart and perform it for us in assembly.

My pet monster has a fat belly, two green horns and yellow hair.

It is as tall as the Eiffel Tower and as wide as Antarctica.

It eats cucumber, cats, cotton candy, cabbage, caterpillars and cake.

It wears a diamond T-shirt, teal shorts and a tiara.

It is as happy as a hamster.
