A visit from a veterinary nurse

We really enjoyed our visit this afternoon from Christine who talked to us about what animals need to stay healthy. 

Christine gave our guinea pigs a health check and told us that they are both in good health!

I hope the children enjoy reading their leaflets that Christine brought along.

Making 3D shapes

Today we used different Maths equipment to make 3D shape.

We had to think about their faces and how many edges and vertices they would need.

World Book Day 2022!

Year 2 had a great day as their book characters and in their Indian coloured outfits!

 

Martin Mere

We had a wonderful day at Martin Mere today!

We saw lots of different species of wildfowl and learnt a lot of new and interesting facts!

We did some pond dipping and lots of interesting creatures hiding.

 

Making 2D shapes on geoboards

We have been exploring the properties of 2D shapes this week.

We had fun making 2D shapes on a geoboard and then had a go at drawing our own 2D shapes.

Top Trumps!

We have been learning how to play Top Trumps!

We then carried out lots of research about nocturnal animals and then used this knowledge to create our very own Top Trumps game. 

We tested out the games which was great fun!

Football at Priory

We had a great time this morning in our PE session at Priory Academy!

We really enjoyed being in the big sports hall and did our best with all of the activities with Dave.

We have all worn our scarves to school today to raise awareness of Mental Health Week. The acronym SCARF feeds into all of our PSHE leanring and our class values and ethos.

Vehicle making - Part 2!

The children have done an amazing job completing their vehicles!

They used new skills and a lot of perseverence and problem solving in order to complete them, following their designs and plan carefully!

Forest School 7th February 2022

Forest School was very muddy today! We kept warm by keeping busy and enjoyed hot chocolates cooked on the stove!

Vehicle making - part 1!

Football Festival

Year 2 Forest School 31st January

More fun at Forest School today!

We started off today being little squirrels collecting sticks for winter, but we had to watch out for the Buzzard, Polecat and the Fox!

We heard a story called Pip and Little Egg which inspired us to decorate the trees!

We tested out our own bird kites in the wind!

We finished with a silly banana song!

Year 2 Forest School 24th January

Today in Forest School we had to collect 'woolly worms' for our baby bird, fly together in flocks to escape the hawk, made birdy artwork and finished with a toasted marshmallow treat!

Mary's Little Lamb - Recorder Performance

Year 2 have been practising to play their next piece - 'Mary's Little Lamb'. 

They play this in two parts, taking the part of the lamb when they aren't playing their recorder!

Lancashire Owls and Hawks Visit

Year 2 were treated to a wonderful visit from The Lancashire Owls and Hawks society this morning.

We all enjoyed hearing even more information about these amazing birds!

More balancing!

Today we were trying to improve our balancing skills.

We now know how to hold a pike, tuck, straddle and plank position.

Testing joining techniques!

This week we tested 3 different ways to join a wheel axle to a chassis.

We then decided which we liked best, which we found easiest and which would be the strongest.

Year 2 Forest School 17th January

We had a great time again in Forest School! 

Today we listened and looked out for local birds.

Then we made bird feeders and homes for them.

 

Balancing in PE

We tried out our balancing skills in PE today.

We played Balancing Musical Statues and 'Worms and Ponds'.

 

Exploring vehicles

Today we had a close look at vehicle toys to find out how they work.

We found that the wheels moved round when we pushed.

The wheels were attached to an axle which was attached to the chassis of the vehicle.

In our next lesson we are going to test out different ways of attaching wheels axles to a chassis.

Multiplying using Arrays

Today we practised how to calculate multiplications using arrays which we made out of multilink cubes. 

We counted in the equal groups to find the total.

Forest School

We had a great time in Forest School this afternoon!

We had to impagine we were squirrels and watch out for the Buzzards and Polecats in our forraging game.

Then we created spiders and other mini--beasts out of clay and natural materials.

We ended with a camp fire song.

 

Party Day!

Smoothie Making!

Today we enjoyed making our Fruit Smoothies!

First we prepared our fruit and then we blended it together with juice and yoghurt.

Some of us liked it but some of us didnt!
