On Monday, we had visitors for our Road 2 Paris festival day who introduced us to some Olympic and Paralympic sports.We had lots of fun trying all of the sports and are now really looking forward to the Olympics this Summer!

Year 1 had a fantastic time at Bring Yer Wellies this week. The children enjoyed learning about how plants grow, potting their own lavender plants and learning about how to look after them. We also looked at a wormery which was really interesting - and a little bit gross!
In the afternoon, the children enjoyed some team games, racing boats and building dens with the help of our wonderful teachers and volunteers.
We went away with lots of smiles on our faces, and very tired from such a fun packed day.

The grand opening of our Toy Museum! Thank you to all parents/carers for donating their old toys for us to find out about and display in our toy museum and for coming to visit.
The children have been working really hard this half term, learning about and exploring toys from the past and enjoyed creating the museum for you all to come and see.

Wow! What an amazing day with our special visitor!
He showed us some amazing talents and talked to us about believing in our own abilities.
He helped us to remember not to judge people by what they look like. Every has feelings and talents. Everyone is unique!

Key Stage 1 Multi Skills Event

4 children from our Year 1 and Year 2 Class represented our Key Stage 1 tonight in a Multi-Skills Event at Priory Academy High School!
They had a go at different skills like bouncing, striking, balancing the ball and sprint running!
They were all amazing! Well done!

We enjoyed a surprise visit from the Creepy Crawly Roadshow this afternoon in our Key Stage 1 assembly!

This week, Year 1 had a visit from the Bee Centre! We learnt about different types of bees and their jobs in the hive. We learnt about how bees make honey in their hives and tried some honey samples. We were really excited to have a look at the bees up close in their glass display and found the queen bee!
We want to say a huge thank you to Ethan who came and talked to us from the bee centre, we had a great time.

Today, Year 1 had a visit from Life Education, and most importantly, Harold the Giraffe! We learnt about what we can do to keep our bodies healthy, such as exercise, brushing our teeth and drinking water. We also learnt about the five food groups and how much of each group we should eat to have a balanced diet.
We took a look what is inside our bodies, discovering the lungs, ribs, heart, bladder and how food travels through our bodies.
Year 1 had a great session and want to say a massive thank you to Steven and Harold the Giraffe for helping us with our learning today.

Year 1 had a great day practicing football skills with Dave. We learnt how to move the ball using different areas of our feet and practiced dribbling. Thank you Dave for a fun morning!

Year 1 had great fun this afternoon making their fruit kebabs for their D&T project.
For this topic the children had learnt about healthy eating and balanced diets. The children then designed their fruit kebabs and made an ingredients list, and today they created them from their designs.
The children chose their fruit, learnt cutting skills to make their pieces of fruit the right size for the kebabs and then ate them as a healthy snack.

Year 1 had an excellent day out today at Bring Yer Wellies. In the morning, children learnt about how important plants are to our lives and how we can look after them. Then, they got to work potting 2 plants - oregano and lavender which we were allowed to take home with us.
This afternoon, we took apart a wormery and had a look at what worms eat and what they produce. After this, we went down to the brook and raced some small, cork boats, cheering them on from the side. Finally, we had a go at den building. We made two dens big enough to squeeze ourselves in and then it was time to go back to school!

Today we had an amazing visitor in our school - Joel Fearon.
In assembly he talked to the children about his achievements and how he needed courage and resilience to reach his goals.
We all enjoyed a PE lesson with Joel during the day.

What an exciting and unusual day!
Joe from Teach Rex, visited school today with Thomas the gorilla. We learnt about how his family was taken when he was a baby and how he had managed to survive in the Congo. The children learnt of the devastating impact of deforestation and how small changes they make can make a big difference. Thomas was very nervous to begin with but relaxed when he realised how much we cared and wanted to help him.

Athletics Event at Priory Academy

Children from Year 3,4 and 6 represented school in an Athletics event at Priory Academy this week.
They did really well in all of their events including running, throwing and jumping.
They competed against other schools from the local area.

Four of our pupils represented school at a Key Stage 1 Multi-Skills event tonight at Priory Academy High School.
They had lots of fun trying out the different activities and came 2nd overall! Well done!

We had a lovely time trying Yoga this morning.
It was very relaxing but quite challenging trying the new poses. We liked wagging our tails doing the downward dog!
