Choose your favourite animal and try and reread that verse either
independently or along with the voice over. Try and make up some actions for certain words to help you remember the words!
Why did you choose that animal as your favourite? 
Write some sentences to descibe the animal. Use words from the text to help you and include connectives such as ‘and’. 

I like the gorilla the best because he is big, black and hairy. He is ferocious and scary. He makes me laugh when he wallops his chest.

Make sure you check your work for capital letters, full stops, finger-spaces and spellings!

Topic, Science – Describing materials. 
Properties of a material are different things that the material has, for example, the way it feels, if its hot or cold or it’s size. Read and enjoy The Ugly Five by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler.
Remind your child that these animals are described by the author as to why they think they are ugly. Can they spot words or phraseswhich describe each of the five to suggest why they might be thought of as ’ugly’?

and has a voice with a mixture of giggles and groans…

Ask your child to imagine they are on a safari tour, viewing β€˜The Ugly Five’ animals in the wild. Explain to your child that their challenge is to write a recount of what they have seen for their friends and family back home, including some description of the five animals.

What would you offer someone if you really wanted their toy? Write a list of what you would give. Use time words!

Log in to Espresso. The log in should be in the front of your exercise book, If you don’t have one, please email Year one email.
From home page, select Key Stage 1, then select English from subject menu down the left hand side. Next, scroll down to phonics. Select ‘Ash’s phonics’. Watch videos for o_e, split digraph . There are activities using these digraphs down the right of this page to try. Please make 2 lists of words in your exercise books for these digraphs. Think of at least 3 words for each list. Don’t forget to put the date at the top.

Do you remember the animal that you made your poster about on Friday? It might have been a cat, a gorilla or something else. Imagine that the animal from your poster was your very own pet for the day! Where would you take it? What kind of things would you get up to?
Go to PurpleMash and select English, Create a Story and write and illustrate your day with your new pet. This task has been set for you in your 2Do list.  

 

Topic – Natural and Man Made Objects
In your Purple book, take a double page and on one page write ‘Natural’ and on the other page write ‘Man-Made’. Fill each page with drawings of objects that fit into the correct category. How many of each can you find/come up with? Label your drawings clearly, use phonics to help with your writing.

Now you have read We’re Going On a Bear Hunt and made a list of items that you need to take with you on your own hunt, I want you to describe the bear that you are looking for. Can you write some sentences that tell the reader what they would see.

An address is something that you need to make sure you write out carefully on an envelope before sending a letter. It makes sure that the letter gets to the correct place!

It has been brought to my attention that the link to download the Bear Hunt Story Map was not working yesterday, I apologise for this and have made sure it is up and running for today! I have therefore re-set yesterdays English task for today.

If you login using Username: march20, Password:home, you can access more games! Try Tricky words trucks. Try the phase 2 words first then move onto phase 5 tricky words. make a note of the ones you find difficult and practise them. You could also have a go at spelling some of these words!

IT/Theme: Log in to Purple Mash. Practise your typing skills by writing about Spring. From the Purple Mash home page choose ‘Spring’, bottom right. Choose describing Spring on the top line. Watch the video and then add photos and writing about Spring. Print it out and stick it in your book or take a photo of your work and email it into school.

Choose the pink ‘Activities’ button on the bottom right. there are some games here to practise the phonics you have done this week ie. ay, a-e, ea, ey, e-e.

Writing: On a fresh page in your exercise book write about what you have done this week. Have you played a game with a grown up, made something with Lego, played a really good game on your tech! Maybe you went for a walk or joined in with Joe Wicks and his energetic exercises! Write a few sentences with capital letters, fullstops and neat writing.

Music/Art: Listen to ‘Spring’
Close you eyes and listen to the music. How does it make you feel? Happy? Sad? Excited? What do you think? Do you know what instruments are being played? Is it fast music or slow? What does it make you think about? What pictures and colours can you see in your head? Draw a picture of what the music sounds like and how it makes you feel. For ideas you could watch this You tube clip.

Oxford reading Owl – There are some lovely free e-books on here to read. You do have to register but it’s not too big of a job.
